President Hakainde Hichilema has warned civil servants misusing public funds that he will not side with erring officers if found wanting.
Speaking when he swore in some Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Public Specialist and a Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, President Hichilema says it is depressing that people have continued to engage in unlawful acts even when they know the consequences.
President Hichilema says public workers should always bear in mind that they were sworn to protect public assets for citizens hence it is unacceptable that any individual would disregard such a responsibility.
The concerned head of state has also expressed displeasure over the glaring financial irregularities recently unearthed at the Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, those appointed by the president include Dr. George Sinyangwe as Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary in charge of administration, Gladys Lundwe, Ambassador – designate to Sweden, Kennedy Shepande, High Commissioner to Canada, Chibamba Kanyama, Ambassador to the USA.
Others are Daniel Mahongo, High Commissioner to the Republic of Ghana, Macenje Mazoka, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Dr. Remmy Kampamba as Public Policy Specialist, Policy Analysis and Coordination Division at Cabinet Office.
