The Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) has summoned the Management of Daxing Manganese Mine in Luombwa of Serenje District for various offences.

Some of the offenses include extracting of water from the river using traditional pumps without a permit and indiscriminate disposal of sediments which contain harmful metals.

WARMA Vice Board Chairperson Dr. Elenestina Mwelwa has described the company’s behavior as a health hazard which must not be ignored.

Ms. Mwelwa has urged Daxing Manganese Mine and other firms operating in the region to adopt sustainable methods of operations.

Meanwhile, Daxing Mine Manager Hadrick Mulebi says his team is already working with WARMA to rectify the anomalies.
