Non-porous concrete and paving is said to be one of the major contributors to the recent urban flooding.

Water Resources Management Authority WARMA Director General, Kenneth Nyundu says the authority is advocating through local authorities and other stakeholders to come with by-laws that will promote a green environment as opposed to paving.

Mr. Nyundu says keeping the land vegetation helps water sink and recharging the ground water.

The WARMA Director General was speaking in Chipata when he paid a courtesy on Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Paul Thole.
