Polling has officially commenced in the Kala Ward by-election, with voting stations opening their doors promptly at 06:00 hours this morning. At Kala Polling Station, one of the key voting centres in the ward, electoral officers reported a calm and orderly start to the day.
By 05:45 hours, 15 male voters had already formed a queue, eager to exercise their democratic right as soon as the station opened. According to polling staff, this early turnout reflects a strong sense of civic duty among residents.
As of 07:00 hours, a total of 44 people had cast their votes at the station. Of these, 26 were male and 18 female voters. With a total of 793 registered voters at the polling station, the early morning figures suggest a promising trend toward high voter participation.
The atmosphere at the polling station has remained peaceful, with no incidents reported so far. Electoral officials have commended both voters and party representatives for maintaining order and following all laid-down procedures.
Elderly citizens who voted shortly after the opening of polls were seen urging fellow community members to come out in large numbers and vote peacefully. They emphasized the importance of preserving a calm and inclusive environment for the electoral process.
With the day still unfolding, voter turnout is expected to continue rising steadily across the ward. Authorities have assured the public that all necessary security and logistical arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process.
