Political violence has marred the ongoing Luangwa Council Chairperson by-election.

On Wednesday night, some suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres stormed the Socialist Party command centre in Kavuula ward and damaged four (4) campaign vehicles.

And UPND Lusaka Province Youth Chairperson Anderson Banda confirmed that the incident happened but has blamed the Socialist Party for causing the violence.

Socialist Party Secretary Aldridge Kabungo says the matter has been reported to the police for investigations.

And in a separate incident, suspected Socialist Party cadres have damaged a vehicle belonging to the UPND which was going round wards while voting is in progress.

Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga says he is yet to receive a report over the development.
