The United Party for National Development (UPND) Member of Parliament for Zambezi and Head of Mission for Intra-Party Elections in Southern Province, Brian Kambita, has announced the nullification of intra-party election results in three wards, Nachipoma, Mazabuka Central, and Nega Nega, due to reported irregularities.
Speaking at Lusumpuko Hall in Mazabuka, Mr. Kambita, who was accompanied by party officials from both national and provincial levels, addressed hundreds of delegates and aspiring candidates. He announced that fresh elections will be conducted within two days, covering ward, constituency, and district levels.
He further stated that Magoye Constituency will proceed with its already submitted and approved nominated leaders.
Meanwhile, aspiring candidates have been urged to continue campaigning peacefully ahead of the rerun.
The announcement was met with approval from attendees, with hundreds gathered at the venue expressing support and appreciation for the committee’s decision.
