Some University of Zambia students have taken to the Great East Road to protest over a statement made by a named UPND official in a video that has gone viral on different social media platforms.
In the said video the man identified as Saul Mwale Cornhill is heard using the words ‘imbwa zapa UNZA’, an alleged reference to the University of Zambia student populace.
The students blocked the four lanes of the Great East Road chanting slogans demanding an apology for the alleged disrespectful remarks.
The United Party for National Development UPND has however issued a statement on the suspension of Saul Cornhill pending investigations.
Party Secretary General Batuke Imenda has since apologized to the University of Zambia students and has advised party members to desist from issuing statements that bring the party and government into disrepute.
