Lecturers at the University of Zambia have vowed to continue with their peaceful protest over their unpaid benefits, despite the government releasing 206 million kwacha as part payment towards the over 1.3 billion kwacha debt.
In an interview with Diamond News, University of Zambia Professional Staff Union – UNZAPROSU President Likezo Pumulo says the money that was released is too little to address their problem.
Mr. Pumulo highlights that lecturers are unhappy that the government also attached conditions to the disbursed funds.
Government last week released K206 million, of which K131 Million is meant to pay retirees and K75 Million to go towards gratuities to the affected lecturers.
