Police have apprehended two more suspects in connection with the abduction of 13 young women who were rescued on Monday, in Lusaka’s Chalala area.

The two have been identified as Mathews Sikaonga and James Mulenga Bwalya, both aged 22, who were placed on a wanted list less than 24 hours after the victims were rescued by neighbors.

According to Police Service Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, the two were arrested early this morning in TBZ area of Kaoma District in western province.

Meanwhile, families of the freed girls have urged police to treat reports of abduction with seriousness.

The mother of one of the girls, Penzya Hachintu says when she reported the matter at Chawama Police Station, only to be told that that her 18 year old daughter would come back as she just went away with her boyfriend.

And Clinical Psychologist, Bwembya Bwalya says the girls are likely to experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which is not limited to them but to their family members too.
