Two members of the same family have died and another was injured in an electrocution incident in Lusaka’s Kabanana Site and Service on Saturday afternoon.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi said the tragic accident happened on December 7, 2025, around 12:00 hours.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Priscilla Mwansa, 44, was electrocuted while hanging clothes on a drying wire that had come into contact with electrically charged iron sheets on the roof of the house.
Her daughters, Roma Banda, 24, and Faith Banda, 10, rushed to rescue her. During the attempt, the laundry wire reportedly snapped, causing all three to fall to the ground.
Priscilla Mwansa and her 10-year-old daughter Faith died instantly, while Roma sustained burns on her hand and is currently admitted to Chipata Level One Hospital.
Police said the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary to await post-mortem.
