TWO DEAD, DOZENS INJURED IN SOLWEZI–CHINGOLA ROAD ACCIDENT

Two male adults, a Likili Bus driver and a supervisor, have died following a fatal road traffic accident involving their bus and a Tanzania-registered truck along the Solwezi–Chingola Road in the early hours of today, 5 December 2025.

The accident occurred when the Likili bus collided with the Tanzanian truck, resulting in a severe impact that claimed the lives of the two crew members on the spot.

Following the incident, 34 victims were rushed to Solwezi General Hospital, where medical personnel immediately began attending to them.

Solwezi General Hospital Head of Clinical Care, Dr. Joshua Chisanga, has confirmed to Diamond Media that 32 of the victims were treated for various injuries, with 30 later discharged. Two remain admitted but are reported to be in stable condition.

However, North Western Province Police Division is yet to issue an official statement as investigations into the cause of the accident have been launched.

Meanwhile, North Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Luckson Mulumbi says the government mourns with the bereaved families and victims of the accident.

Mr. Mulumbi has since urged motorists to exercise maximum caution on major highways as the festive season approaches, noting increased traffic volumes on the Solwezi–Chingola stretch.
