TWO ARRESTED IN CROSS BORDER CATTLE THEFT

The Zambia Police Service has arrested two suspects and recovered one head of cattle believed to have been stolen from Namibia following a tip-off from game scouts in Mwandi District of Western Province.

Speaking in a statement, Police Western Division Commissioner, Rae Hamoonga says Mwandi Police Station in Mwandi District received information on January 29, 2026, around 23:00 hours from a supervisor at Simalaha Game Management, who reported that scouts on patrol had observed two men trekking an animal in the bush near Sukuzu Village between Mwandi Town Junction and Kasaya Checkpoint.

He adds that Police have apprehended Makalichi Milimo aged 24, of Mwandi District, who upon interrogation led officers into the bush in Sukuzu Village where a black bull branded E54C was recovered and has admitted that animal had been stolen from Namibia while acting with two accomplices, one being Brian Mwambo aged 23.

The Namibian Police Force has since been contacted and details of the recovered animal have been shared to facilitate identification of the rightful owner.
