The Southern Africa Truck Drivers Association of Zambia (SATDAZ) is mourning the death of one of its members, Joseph Martin Chivanga, who was killed after going missing in Congo.
The association described the incident as brutal and shocking to the trucking community.
In a statement, SATDAZ President Eugene Ndlovu said the organisation is planning a peaceful protest to demand improved security along transport corridors and a thorough investigation into Chivanga’s killing.
Mr. Ndlovu added that the protest will also show unity among drivers, ensuring that no colleague faces such dangers alone. He emphasized that their profession should not require sacrificing lives without accountability and protection.
