TRUCK CARRYING 28 TONNES CHEMICAL CARGO GUTTED

A truck transporting 28 tonnes of industrial chemicals has completely been destroyed by fire along the Great East Road in Sinda District.

The incident involved a Sino truck and trailer, registration numbers Horse-BCF 146 and BCF 6713, which was carrying a cargo of 2 tonnes of Ammonium Sulphate and 26 tonnes of swimming pool chemicals.

Eastern Province Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba comfirmed that the blaze erupted between 13hrs and 14hrs on February 8th, 2026, at the Ntongole area between Sinda Town and Sinda Village.

The driver, a 33-year-old from Lusaka employed by Amaans Logistics, reported feeling intense heat from the vehicle’s right side shortly after being cleared at the Chanida Border.

Upon opening his door, he discovered a rapidly spreading fire and was forced to retreat for his safety.

The inferno consumed the vehicle so quickly that arriving villagers could only watch as it was engulfed.
