Three more houses have collapsed in Kafula in Chief Mukonge’s Chiefdom in Kasama District in Northern Province.

This brings the total number of affected houses to 11.

On Saturday, March 11 2023, eight houses, five shops and a church collapsed in the same area due to a storm.

Kasama District Commissioner Elizabeth Goma has described the situation as unfortunate.

Ms. Goma who is also Kasama District Disaster Management and Mitigation Committee Chairperson says as an immediate measure, the affected families have since been given tents and some foodstuffs.

He says government is working on modalities on how best the families can be helped to rebuild their houses.
