Nominations for the Litawa Ward by-election in Nalikwanda Constituency, Mongu District of Western Province have successfully been conducted Tuesday 9th November 2025 with three candidates filing their papers.
The United Progressive and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ)’s Mulonda Simangolwa, the Leadership Movement (LM)’s Siyumbwa David and the United Party for National Development (UPND)’s Mwitumwa Mwitumwa have all entered the race.
The by-election follows the death of the ward’s councillor, who passed away on the 7th of October, eight months after being elected.
Campaign activities are expected to intensify in the coming days as the three parties move to convince voters ahead of polling day. Electoral officers have urged all candidates to conduct peaceful and issue-based campaigns while reminding residents of Litawa Ward to verify their voter details before the election.
The Electoral Commission has also emphasised that all health and security guidelines will be followed to ensure a smooth and credible process.
