.

The ruling United Party for National Development UPND says there is no vacuum in the party’s leadership.

Reacting to allegations made by Charles Longwe, that the party’s leadership expired on February 14th 2026, the party Chairperson for elections and campaigns, Likando Mufalali, noted that UPND remains a law abiding party, which respects the constitutional provisions. Further adding that there are no shortcuts in the UPND.

Meanwhile Mr Mufalali has announced the parties readiness to holding it’s intra party General conference slated for 15th April 2026.

Speaking during a media press briefing, he noted that the processes leading up to the General conference are underway from branch level all the up to national level.

He revealed that candidates wishing to contest the presidential election are free to do so at a nomination fee of K100, 000. He has invited genuine UPND members to contest any elective position.
