Education Minister Douglas Syakalima has officially launched the revised School Re-entry Programme at Bauleni Secondary School in Lusaka, opening doors for learners who abandoned their studies due to pregnancy to return to the classroom.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister urged affected learners to take full advantage of the opportunity, stressing that education remains the most powerful tool for building a successful and fulfilling life. The Minister also directed his message at parents, calling on them to actively support and encourage their children to go back to school rather than keeping them at home.
The programme has already drawn an overwhelming response from beneficiaries across the country, with learners from Eastern, Central, and Northwestern provinces expressing deep gratitude to the government for giving them a second chance to pursue their education.
The returning learners described the programme as a life-changing intervention, saying they had feared their academic journeys were over before the government stepped in with this opportunity.
Some of the beneficiaries say they are determined to make the most of their return to school, expressing hopes of completing their grades and going on to further education.
