Suspects in the recent abduction of 13 young women in Lusaka will have to undergo mental and physical checkup to ascertain if they can stand trial.

When the two suspects appeared before the Lusaka High Court, their lawyer made an application for them to undergo medical checkup.

The state did not object to the application but asked the court to put a return date for the medical results.

High Court Judge Charles Kafunda has granted the application and ordered that the results be availed on 6th April 2023.

In this matter, Matthew Sikaonga and James Bwalya are facing 54 counts of rape, assault, abduction and aggravated robbery.

The state has prepared 8 witnesses to testify in the matter.
