Chipata City has been hit by a shortage of fuel, following alleged contamination of the commodity at Mount Meru Filling stations.
Minister of Energy, Peter Kapala, says government is investigating the matter that has affected motorists who mostly depend on the company’s supply.
Mr. Kapala has assured residents that the situation will normalize before Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
He reveals that to mitigate the setback the first 36,000 litres of fuel arrived earlier in Chipata, and more trucks are on the way to restore steady supply for the eastern provincial capital.
Out of nine petroleum companies only Engen Filling Station had supply but it was overwhelmed by long queues of motorists.
