Copper Queens Midfielder Susan Banda has been ruled out of the 2024 Paris Olympics Women’s Football Tournament qualifier games against Ghana to be played on 23rd and 28th February, 2024.

This follows an injury sustained by the Red Arrows Ladies Team captain during the FAZ Women’s Super League match against Police Dove Queens FC on 27 January, 2024.

Banda was instrumental in the 2023 Women’s COSAFA held in South Africa as she took the role of vice captain when the Copper Queens minted silver after losing 2-1 to Malawi.

Meanwhile, Copper Queens Head Coach Bruce Mwape has named a 30-member provisional squad for the Ghana clash which includes Catherine Musonda who will lead the goalkeeping department as Lushomo Mweemba leads the back line players.

Ireen Lungu, Avell Chitundu, Evarine Susan Katongo and Misozi Zulu among others make up the midfield while star striker Barbara Banda and Rachael Kundananji lead the attacking force.

Bruce Mwape’s lasses will play the first leg match against the Black Queens of Ghana on Friday, 23rd February at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi while the return leg will be played five days later.
