Two Lusaka sureties have been ordered to pay K50,000 each after failing to present an accused person before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court.
This is in a matter where Joshua Banda and Cecilia Daka stood surety for Togo Manditswanga, who is facing multiple forgery and uttering false document charges but has since absconded.
In delivering ruling, the court found the sureties negligent in ensuring the accused attended court and ordered each to pay K50,000 or serve six months simple imprisonment, effective immediately.
