STARDY MWALE FAILS TO RECLAIM $2.5M SIMONGA FARM IN COURT

.

Former Defence Permanent Secretary Stardy Mwale has lost his bid to reclaim Simonga Farm in Mazabuka, valued at 2.5 million United States Dollars following dismissal of his application by the Economic and Financial crimes court.

Mr. Mwale applied for the extension of the period for permission to appeal against the forfeiture, citing excessive delay in filing the case.

The forfeiture order was made in November 2024, with the court declaring the property proceeds of crime.

Judges Susan Wanjelani, Vincent Siloka, and Ian Mabbolobbobo have ruled that Mwale failed to demonstrate that the delay was not excessive and did not provide strong reasons to justify an extension.

The farm, which includes over 420 cattle and 163 goats, will now be managed by the state.
