Road traffic offences also dropped sharply from 1,340 in 2024 to 819 in 2025. The reduction signals better compliance with traffic regulations and more effective law enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga announced that K577,900.00 was collected in fines. This marks a decrease of 521 offences and K53,250.00 in fines compared to last year. Mr. Hamoonga said the decline shows fewer violations and growing road discipline among motorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Zambia Police Service attributes the improvements to enhanced traffic management. Measures include deploying more officers at key points and introducing stricter penalties. Public awareness campaigns have further stressed safe driving and adherence to rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Hamoonga praised the collaboration between police, local authorities, and communities. He emphasized the role of non-governmental organizations and private sector partners in spreading road safety messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“These results are encouraging, but we must stay vigilant. Every life saved is progress for our nation. We urge motorists to remain cautious and responsible,” Hamoonga stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
