Altitude Apartments, a property previously owned by jailed Patriotic Front (PF) supporter Francis Muchemwa, has been officially transferred to the Hostels Board of Management, a government department under the Ministry of Tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision to seize the property was made following a court ruling that declared it tainted and forfeited to the state. The property, valued at over K11 million, is among several other assets belonging to Muchemwa that have been confiscated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during a visit to the property, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Gilbert Phiri, emphasized that the government intends to continue operating Altitude Apartments as a business. The revenue generated from the property will be directed to the Treasury, contributing to the country’s economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Acting Director General, Monica Mwansa, also expressed the state’s commitment to ensuring that all forfeited properties are properly managed and utilized. The ACC will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of Altitude Apartments and ensuring that its assets are protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The transfer of Altitude Apartments to the Hostels Board of Management marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to recover assets obtained through corruption and to utilize them for the benefit of the Zambian people. The move is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism sector and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
