Ministry of Information and Media, Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana has urged Hospitals, Military Barracks and learning institutions that are exempted from load-shedding to seriously consider going solar in the next three months as the country records the shortfall of 700 megawatts due to the continued decrease of water levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Kawana has also encouraged citizens and corporate citizens to as well go solar, adding that, if these institutions start using solar, about 250 megawatts of power will be saved accounting for 40 percent of the power being consumed in Lusaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further notes that solar products are expensive and has since urged the business communities that deal in solar products to pass on the benefit of tax exemption on solar products and accessories that the government has implemented to ensure that the consumers are able to afford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
