\u00a0A 12-year-old boy of Mpika District in Muchinga Province, has succumbed to anthrax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister of Health, Sylvia Masebo has disclosed at a press briefing in Lusaka, that the death of the juvenile is out of three cases in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms. Masebo says out of a 335 cumulative number of cases recorded, Southern Province has the highest with 269 cases, while Eastern Province has 30, Western Province with 19 and one case is on record in North-Western Province respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She says other provinces on the list include Lusaka with 13 cases in which five were recorded in Kanyama, six in Matero, one from Chelston and another from Chilenje township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister says her ministry has enhanced surveillance and community sensitization to combat the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of the public have, therefore, been advised to avoid consumption of meat products whose source is uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
