Police in Lusaka have arrested former first lady Esther Lungu on charges of theft of motor vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In May this year, police had questioned the former first lady in relation to the theft of a motor vehicle and certificate of title for a property in Lusaka’s Libala south area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was after a Lusaka resident, Elizabeth Phiri, and her daughter, furhana Patel, complained that the former first lady grabbed their vehicles namely Mitsubishi canter, Toyota Runx and Toyota Alex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms. Phiri is also alleged to have been detained at a police station and later driven to the residence of the former first lady where she was together with her daughter made to surrender the said properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former first lady is yet to be released on bond pending her court appearance and the police are yet to issue a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
