Police in Lusaka have arrested and charged Socialist Party President Dr. Fred M’membe with one count of acts intended to cause grievous Bodily harm and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Dr. M’membe has been jointly charged with his body guard Daniel Mumba on charges of assault.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga in a statement says Dr. M’membe on April 8, 2023 in Serenje District, Central Province with intent to maim, disfigure or disable or do some grievous harm shot at Emmauel Simposya using a firearm causing him to sustain injuries on the head.
Dr. M’membe has since been released on police bond pending a court appearance.
