MEALIE MEAL SMUGGLING PERSISTS ON THE COPPERBELT

Ndola district Commissioner Joseph Phiri has expressed disappointment with the high cost of mealie meal on the market in Chiwala, Chipulukusu and Kawama townships on the Copperbelt Province.

Mr. Phiri undertook a prompt visit to retail shops where he found a 25 kgs bag of breakfast meal selling between K230 and K250.

Ndola district has continued experiencing high demand of the commodity due to smuggling into the democratic Republic Of Congo.
