MEALIE MEAL PRICES STILL HIGH
Prices of mealie meal across the country have remained high, beyond the means of many families.
A Diamond TV check around different retail outlets countrywide has revealed that a 25 kilogram bag of mealie is costing between K185 and K 210.
The issue has cast fears in citizens that wonder what will become of their staple meal if at the start of 2023 it is fetching at a high price in a time when the nation is still faced with irregularities in the 2022/2023 Farmer Input Support Programme-FISP.
On Tuesday, Minister of Agriculture Reuben Mtolo-Phiri revealed the high prices amid shortage of mealie-meal in some parts of the country is due to the high demand in exports to neighboring countries that has led millers to go after lucrative markets.
