Police in Mazabuka District Southern Province have arrested a 24-year-old woman identified as Otrice Maimbo of Kaleya Compound in connection with the murder of her six-month-old baby.
Southern Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka says the baby suffocated to death after the suspect slept on it while being drunk.

Mr. Daka adds that the breathless infant was discovered by its father identified as Kelvin Likontola who rushed the baby to Kaleya Clinic where it was pronounced dead.
The body has since been deposited at Mazabuka General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem while the mother has been detained.
