MALOTA EMERGENCY ASSEMBLY POINT TURNED INTO DUMPSITE

Some residents of Malota Compound in Livingstone have turned the only emergency assembly point in the area into an illegal dumpsite, much to the dismay of the local authority.

A check at the affected area, a stone’s throw from three schools and households, a huge pile of garbage now covers most parts of a reliable road.

Some residents talked to have pointed accusing fingers to the local authority, citing failure to manage the site while others say fears of a disease outbreak are rife.

However, Council Public Relations Manager, Melvin Mukela, is dismayed that residents who shun paying for a service opt for illegal waste disposal then cast blame on the local authority.
