he 2023-2024 farming season brought nothing but despair to the residents of Chinkhombe area in Katete District as drought ravaged crops leaving many households without food.

Peter Phiri tells Diamond News that families are selling their livestock to survive, a desperate measure to make ends meet.

The government has intervened with community maize sales through the Food Reserve Agency, at K330 per bag to cushion the hunger situation.
