The Consumer Unity Trust Society (CUTS) Zambia says the proposed hike of connection charges by ZESCO Limited will limit growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s).
Speaking during the Public Hearing CUTS Programs Officer Jane Zulu, says it will affect revenues of low-income SME’s who depend on electricity.
Ms Zulu adds that once electricity connection fees are hiked, consumers will resort to alternative power sources which may be unsustainable and detrimental to the environment.
