Heavy rain experienced on Tuesday has left a trail of destruction in Gwembe District, Southern Province, with over 20 houses having their roofs blown off and several others collapsing, leaving many residents stranded.
The storm also damaged two classroom blocks, including the newly constructed 1×3 CDF-funded block at Munyumbwe Primary School.
Gwembe Town Council Chairperson Colet Ndhlovu, who inspected the damage, expressed sadness over the situation, noting that several families have been spending nights in the cold since the incident.

He has since appealed to well-wishers to urgently provide relief assistance to the affected families.
