GIRL,14, MARRIED OFF IN SHIWANGANDU

Chinsali Subordinate court has heard a matter in which a 25 year old man, married a 14 year old juvenile, who is now pregnant.

James Mukuka of Shiwangandu is charged with the offense of marrying a minor who is also a pupil, contrary to section 8, 2 and 3 of the Education act no: 23 of 2011 of the Laws of Zambia.

The matter was exposed by her class teachers who instituted an inquiry, after noticing the girl’s poor performance.
