The trial in a matter in which a 25-year-old man has been charged with marrying a child learner, has commenced in the Chinsali Magistrates court.
James Mukuka is said to have married a 14-year-old girl, who is a grade 5 pupil, contrary to section 18 of the Education Act no. 23 of the Laws of Zambia.
When the matter came up for trial the 14-year-old juvenile testified that dowry was paid for her marriage.
