EX-FIRST LADY ESTHER LUNGU, POLICE READY FOR TRIAL IN THEFT CASE

Former First Lady, Esther Lungu, and four others have been taken to court for alleged theft of motor vehicles, certificate of title and concealing money reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Ms. Lungu is jointly charged with James Phiri, a police officer of Obama, Lee Chisulo, A police officer of New Chilenje, Catherine Banda and Kapambwe Lungu.

The accused people are expected to take their plea on September 28, 2023 before Magistrate Mbuvyana Simvula.

Among the charges, the former first lady is accused of concealing money amounting to 400,000 dollars, property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Her lawyer Charles Chisangano in an interview, says her client stands ready for trial.
