About forty thousand 25kg bags of mealie-meal have been confiscated from suspected smugglers on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia, in the last few weeks.
Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo has disclosed that the impounded mealie-meal will be offloaded onto the market at affordable prices in order to cushion the shortage of the commodity.
Government through the Zambia National Service has continued offloading mealie-meal in various districts on the Copperbelt province, to ensure the commodity is available on the market.
