A shocking loan scandal has come to light, implicating more than 50 civil servants, including nurses and teachers, who allegedly defrauded a lending institution of nearly half a million Kwacha through a payday loan scheme. The victim in this case is Anda Solutions, a financial services provider that fell prey to the elaborate scam.
In an exclusive interview with Diamond News, Kieran Simataa, a representative of Anda Solutions, revealed the disturbing details of the fraud. According to Simataa, the civil servants involved in the scheme forged bank statements and payslips to make it appear as though they were eligible for loans. These falsified documents were then submitted to the lending institution, which approved the loans based on the fraudulent information.
The scheme went undetected for several months until Anda Solutions noticed that loan repayments were not being deducted from the bank accounts of the borrowers. This raised red flags, prompting an internal investigation. Upon closer scrutiny, the company discovered that the civil servants had manipulated their financial records to secure loans they were not qualified to receive.
Mr. Simataa explained that the fraud was meticulously planned, with the culprits exploiting loopholes in the loan approval process. “They submitted fake documents to make it seem like they met the requirements for the loans. It was only after we saw that repayments were not being made that we realized something was wrong,” he said.
As the investigation unfolded, some of the implicated civil servants confessed to their involvement in the scam after being confronted with the evidence. Simataa noted that while some individuals admitted their guilt, others are still being investigated, and the full extent of the fraud is yet to be determined.
The scandal has sent shockwaves through the community, as civil servants, who are expected to uphold integrity and serve as role models, are now at the center of a major financial fraud case. The involvement of professionals such as nurses and teachers has raised concerns about the pressures they may be facing, as well as the need for stricter oversight in financial transactions.
Anda Solutions is now working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible are held
