About 89 retirees that had worked for the Ministry of Works and supply under Mechanical Services department in 1989 in Solwezi district of North-Western Province have cried foul over government’s failure to pay them their benefits.
Ben Kazungula, a retiree, says ever since government laid them off over two decades ago, none of them has been paid their dues.
Another retiree, Samson Njebe, has wondered why government has been able to settle benefits of other retirees in different provinces but has failed to pay retirees in Solwezi district.
They have appealed to the Republican President, Hakainde Hichilema, to investigate their plight, through relevant institutions.
