SIX CHIJABBO BREW VICTIMS LAID TO REST

.

Six men who died earlier this week in Zimba District after consuming Chijabbo a traditional brew made from a mixture of methylated spirit, sweetener and other hazardous substances, including shoe polish have been laid to rest.

Chief Simwatachela has since called for an immediate ban on the sale of methylated spirit and other substances used in the production of chijabbo that has claimed several lives in his chiefdom.

The traditional leader has also warned his subjects against consuming chijabbo, which is typically prepared using methylated spirit, sweeteners, and he says the proposed ban is aimed at protecting the community, stressing that his chiefdom will not tolerate a continued loss of life arising from the consumption of harmful brews.

Meanwhile, hundreds of mourners gathered in Mafumba Ward of Zimba District in Southern Province to pay their last respects to the six deceased men.
