The family of the late Enoch Simfukwe Kasengele is demanding over K21 million in compensation from Maria Zaloumis, popularly known as ZED Farmer, and her boyfriend, Nathaniel Barthram, who are facing murder charges.
In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, Grace Nachilima, the deceased’s mother and Administratrix of his estate, says her son was unlawfully confined, brutally tortured, and later died on August 17, 2025, from a brain contusion, as confirmed by a postmortem report.
Nachilima cites a video circulating on social media that allegedly shows the accused interrogating Simfukwe while he was in severe pain, tied with ropes and violently beaten, which she says led to his untimely death.
She argues the family has suffered financial and emotional loss, noting that Simfukwe contributed K15,000 monthly towards household expenses.
The claim includes funeral costs, damages for false imprisonment, and general damages for mental anguish.
