The Economic and Financial Crimes Court has ordered for another medical examination on former President Edgar Lungu’s Associate Chrint Sichamba before he undergoes trial in a matter he is accused of acquiring 140 properties reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

According to Magistrate Irene Wishimanga, Mr. Sichamba must undergo another test at Chainama Hills Hospital by a psychiatrist to ascertain the state of his mind so that the court can proceed into trial.

Magistrate Wishimanga wants the report to be rendered to her court on October 7, 2022.

The order by the court comes in the absence of a medical report by neurosurgeons at the University Teaching Hospital on Mr. Sichamba.

In this matter, Mr. Sichamba’s lawyers have made an application for their client to be examined because he is unable to express himself in speech.

Mr. Sichamba is facing corruption allegations and is jointly charged with his wife Nambela and Son David.
