After battles with the displaced Kayuni residents in Mweemba Chiefdom of Sinazongwe District, Sezic Coal Mine has finally agreed to meet the needs of the people by putting up three boreholes, construction of a dam and building of a clinic.
Sinazongwe Council Chairperson Cliff Siachibweka has disclosed to Diamond news that a meeting was held between the villagers and Sezic Coal Mine, management agreed to fulfill the promises made when relocating the villagers.
And Sezic Coal Mine Country Director Davies Musongo has confirmed that so far two boreholes have been done and construction of the clinic has so far started.
Last week angry villagers closed the road leading to the mine in protest against alleged failure by the mine to fulfill its promises to the people.
