North-Western Province Permanent Secretary Colonel Grandson Katambi has announced the death of Senior Chief Kalile of the Lamba-speaking people in Mushidamo District.
Addressing the media in Solwezi, Colonel Katambi says the traditional leader passed away on 25th January 2026 at Maina Soko General Hospital in Lusaka.
He has stated that burial arrangements for the late Chief will be communicated in due course, following consultations with the royal establishment and the family.
The Permanent Secretary has since urged the people of Mushidamo District and the entire North-Western Province to mourn the departed traditional leader in peace.
Meanwhile, Colonel Katambi described Senior Chief Kalile as a unifying figure who consistently promoted peace, harmony, and unity among his subjects and across the district.
He further noted that the late Chief played a significant role in upholding traditional values and fostering cooperation between traditional leadership and government.
