SANGWA CONDEMNS ATTACK ON HH

.

Leader of the Movement for National Renewal (MNR), John Sangwa, has condemned the violent incident at Chiwempala Market in Chingola, where President Hakainde Hichilema was reportedly attacked and forced to cut short his address.

Mr. Sangwa has described the act as a betrayal of the Republic’s founding values, saying violence whether directed at a president or an ordinary citizen has no place in Zambia’s democracy.

He has noted that the Chingola incident reflects a deeper national crisis marked by the erosion of public trust, the collapse of civic order, and the weakening of state institutions.

Mr. Sangwa has since called for calm and reflection ahead of the 2026 general elections, emphasizing that peace, dialogue, and respect for the rule of law remain vital to safeguarding Zambia’s democratic values.
