Zambia Athletics National Team Head Coach Douglas Kalembo has revealed that Zambia’s 400m National Record holder Muzala Samukonga will aim to be more aggressive in the final of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games to be held tonight.
Kalembo, who was speaking after Samukonga’s semifinal race on Tuesday night, adds that the strategy was to ensure his athlete runs the semifinal as if it were the final, in a bid to gauge his performance and correct mistakes ahead of the last race.
Though Samukonga recorded the second fastest time in the semifinals across all heats and a New National record, Kalembo has acknowledged the competition other athletes pose, hence urging Samukonga to not relent.
The 2022 African Champion will be up against Grenadian James Kirani who finished first in the semifinals, Christopher Bailey of USA and Mathew Hudson-Smith of Britain, among others, in the final race to be held at 21:20hrs.
