RTSA ANNOUNCES K1 BUS FARE REDUCTION

.

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has announced a downward adjustment in bus fares by K1.00 for local routes in Lusaka, the Copperbelt and other towns, effective today, February 12, 2026.

The K1.00 reduction applies specifically to local bus routes in Lusaka, across the Copperbelt, and in other towns countrywide.

In a statement issued, RTSA Head of Public Relations Chilufya Mwelwa says the fare reduction follows recent fuel pump price cuts announced by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) for the month of February.

The ERB reduced the price of petrol by K2.04 per litre and diesel by K0.61 per litre, prompting a review of public transport fares in line with the agreed pricing model.

Ms. Mwelwa has explained that the adjustment is guided by a structured fare model developed in consultation with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia (BTOAZ).
